Last year I planted this witch hazel shrub ( Hamamelis ) in my garden .Unfortunately he is still a little shrub and he grow really slow. But at the moment he is blooming the first time and this looks really beautiful ! Such shrub is blooming between the months december to february and he bring a little bit nice colour in our dreary garden . I saw such shrub in some other gardens but you can´t find him not so often .
If you likes know more about it you can read here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch-hazel .

It's beautiful! The color makes me warm and cheers me up in such a cold day. The frog is cute :) Thank you very much for the email!

How pretty, it's lovely to have some colour in the garden at this time of year.
steffi it's nice to have a little colour in the garden at this time of the year, it brightens up a dull day!
Like others, I say it's so nice to have some color now.

I never knew witch hazel bloomed so early. What a nice treat. I wonder if I could grow one around here.
wow love your blog, its so bright great info on here too! thanks for looking at mine :)
Colour always brings life to any garden and very soon this wee plant will grow with even more colour and happiness to share with you.
what a nice little plant!
I have not seen Witch Hazel before. Apparently it is suppose to be good for slowing down hair growth so good to put on your legs in summer. Well, in lotion anyway. It is neat you have things blooming this time of year, when here all is frozen.
Good that you found something to brighten up the winter
Something blooming outside in winter is something we won't see around here. Glad it is making your yard a bit more pretty.
A bit of yellow in the middle of winter sounds perfect to me. I couldn't get it to grow if I tried. I can only kill plants
