Today is here a free day ! The Day of German Unity (German: Tag der Deutschen Einheit) is a national holiday in Germany, celebrated on October 3, which commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990.
1989 / 1990 were really very exciting years for me because I am originally from East Germany ( GDR). I was born and I lived there over 28 years in the near of the city Dresden. The rest of my family is still living there (my relationship, parents,my sister).

Steffi I remember when the wall came down as well. I can only imagine what it must have been like for you!
The fall of the Wall. That was a very good time in history. Hope you enjoy your celebrations. Germany deserves it.
Gutentag what a beautiful blog I will connect you to mine. My mum and brother just had a trip to Berlin and told me that a big piece of the wall is still there.
I love Deutschland and lived close to it but since I live in NZ I lost my german language a bit.
Anyway I wish you a very happy day.

That is awesome you have a holiday to celebrate a great occasion, especially for you with your family there and having grown up there. I hope you had a great day.
happy German Unity day!!!
Always nice to read something different from a different country.
We live we learn.
Reminds me of the Deep Purple song.

A friend was just telling me about this holiday. I hope you had a good celebration. You must feel like you've seen so many changes in Germany with it's reunification. I hear that Dresden is a very beautiful city. I would love to visit it someday.
I hope you enjoyed the day!
A very important time for Germany and the unification was indeed such a 'joy' to see on our television screens and to know at last - Germany could be reunited.
A special time for you and you family and friends too.
